DownEast Basics - Clothing Review

I was excited when I received an invitation to review DownEast Basics store here in South Center Mall, Tukwila, WA.  I never heard of DownEast Basics before and was ecstatic to try something new.   When I entered the store, my first impression was; classy, chic, a little conservative, styles are unique and modish.   I noticed a lot of lace and color combination are impressive.   Their own style is eminent the moment you entered the store.  Their line of clothing is wearable by women and teens.  If you love to shop and bond with your daughter, this is the best place for you.

For those people who are not familiar with DownEast Basics, I took a few pictures so you could see for yourself some of their clothing displays.

If you are good at mix and match, they are perfect for both working clothes and everyday  wear.  You could pair up their blouses with a pair of jeans or skirt, and off you go.  The best of all, their prices are very reasonable!   They have a lot of clearance items right now and some sweaters starts at $9.99 only!

This rack above is only part of their clearance section, they have enormous selection on a very low price.   I found some basic tees at $5.99 only.   Summer is just a few months away, it is better to stock up now!

They also carry some accessories that starts at $3.99 only.  Great price right?   I was not able to ask though if the 3.99 price is the final price or you could still take away 30% on top of it.   Nevertheless, the price is still a great deal.

The greatest find I had was the swimsuit selection for both women and kids!   I love their styles and color.   I promised myself to go back in their and grab one of those swimsuits for my kids and myself.    These are my favorites:

This is for my two year old daughter.   Very simple and yet pretty.  I found one for my six year old as well, but the picture I took does not give justice to the item.

This pair is my fave one. The skirt is gorgeous and I love the color!  It does not even look like a swimsuit.

Do you want to head out  now and check out the store?   They are located at Westfield Southcenter Shopping Center in Tukwila, WA.  The store is located on the ground level near GAP, EXPRESS and Apple Store.

Barbie Fashion Birthday Party - Part 1

As I mentioned on my previous post I was planning for Gabz 6th Birthday party.  The theme was Barbie Fashion.    It was a total blast, kids and grown ups had so much fun and some people who saw the video said that it was cute and unique.

Two weeks before Gabz party I asked her what she wants on her birthday, she told me that she wants a Barbie alarm clock and a Barbie cake.  In short she wants a Barbie birthday party!   I kept on thinking what kind of activities I could prepare for the kids.  Penata and games are not so exciting anymore.   Then we thought why not came up with a Barbie Fashion show?   I discussed this with a friend and she was so excited to do it!  She said that she could do the kids hair, I said I could do their make ups!  Now, we had a plan and I want to make it a little bit real for the kids.   Here are the things I did:

1.  Discussed with a friend whom I know that could help me pull it off.   Brainstorm !!!
2.  Agreed who will do the hair and should we do make up?  yes, accessories, etc.
3.   Send email to moms who has girls to bring extra clothing for their kids that they could use for casual wear, sports and evening gown.
4.  Talked to a friend who DJ on the sideline, brought his DJ stuff, speakers, strobe light, and with matching fog machine!!
5.  Another friend volunteered to make a Barbie cake.  Awesome!

Of course all of these are free.   I am so lucky to have so many friends!

Here goes the pictures:

This is the beginning of the party where after the prayer, we sung happy birthday to the birthday girl.   I will post a better picture of the cake on my next post.  This picture does not do justice of it.  Thanks Mommy Nel for the beautiful cake.

First batch, Gabz walking in her casual wear.

Addie, posing in her dark sunglasses, leather jacket and a very stylish plaid pants.  She is so comfortable in the runway...don't you think?

Zystyn in her bear t-shirt and colorful lighting shoes.

Jherica, one of the twins in her casual polka dot dress with blue poodle shoulder bag.  Barefoot though...I think her mom forgot to packed their shoes for the runway!!! Someone is not reading the email :-)

My little Andi, so excited to join the girls.   Mind you she is the only one wearing a Barbie shirt and skirt.  Look at the matching shoes and purse ?!  My little girl is making a fashion statement.

You will probably wonder why this does not match to the whole pictures above.   Because of so much clothes that the moms packed, they have to do two series of casual wear.  Zystyn mom a.k.a. stage mother has a suitcase full of clothes!  Yes you heard me, a suitcase!  I guess not only the kids were excited, but mom and dad too!  The dads' are busy taking pictures and videos and coaching the kids what to do.

Part two, sports wear.

Need to relax

The Author of this post is Solomon Dejesus

I have worked almost 60 hours this week at a physically demanding job. I am exhausted, and I ache from head to toe. My girlfriend asked what we were doing this weekend, and honestly, my answer is NOTHING. The couch and I have a date with my New York Satellite Television. She can certainly watch along with me, but as far as go out and about, I think I’ll pass. I plan to catch up on all my favorite shows and zone out. After working this hard all week, I need a weekend off to relax and do nothing. Unfortunately, that doesn’t always go over well with my girlfriend, who likes to be more spontaneous and have adventures together. I’m hoping that maybe if I get her hooked on a series we can just chill and watch it this weekend. Either that, or maybe I can talk her into going to visit her sister for the weekend. It’s not that I don’t want to spend time with her, it’s just that I need to veg and she doesn’t seem to get that.

My Baby is turning 6 !

Gabz is turning six today.   Yesterday, she had a little party at school, we brought cupcakes, juices and simple goody bags for her classmates.  I asked her how does it goes after school and she said she had a blast !  She got to wear a crown the whole day in their school because it is her birthday.  She said that other girls love her Barbie Cake.   And then tomorrow Sunday, we planned to have a big party for her and (me) in the house.  Her birthday theme this time is Fashion Barbie.   We will be having a Barbie fashion show with her friends.  We will try to make it as realistic as possible.  A friend said that he will bring a fogging machine, a strobe light and he will be our DJ for the day !!!  I asked some friends to bring clothes and accessories for the kids too.  I am super excited and hopefully we could pull this off.  The kids has been wanting to do fashion show, they kind of did it in their own way, but this time we wanted to make it happen for them.   I told them that they will gonna dress up in casual clothes, sports and gown with matching hair stylist and make ups.   They are super excited because they will be able to wear make up that day !

I will post some pictures next week after my work schedule.   Watch out for it !

I am back !

I am back !  I cannot believed that I have been away for so many months and was not able to update my blog for so long.   I am so sorry for those who still checked my blog from time to time and THANK YOU  for doing so.   So many things happened in my life, after my externship, I was hired and started work right away, and after that I have to be away for a month and could not blog due to thousands of reasons.   I know I have so many excuses, but the bottom line is that I have neglected my blog and it was all my fault.

Now, that I am back I will try very hard to give updates no matter how busy my life will be.  I missed blogging and my blogging friends!!!  I missed writing comments, visiting other blogs and meeting new people.  I missed reading your comments and messages too :-)

Right now, I am cracking up my mind and my computer trying to find a gift for my daughter.   Gabz will be turning six this Saturday and she wants a Barbie alarm clock for her birthday.   I am turning online sites upside down trying to find for that alarm clock and I could not find one.  There are very few Barbie alarm clocks and reviews are not very good.  I feel like I will be wasting my money buying it.   But it looks like I will end up with one of those as I am running out of options.   I wanted to give what she wish for her birthday.   I think I will check that alarm clock tomorrow at Toys R Us.

So, that is one thing that keeps me busy right now, then work, catching up on those back logs of errands for the last month and of course dealing with my two year old.   But I have no complaints, life is so good to me and I am looking forward  for a new year with fresh minds and a lot of enthusiasm.
