First snow of the year!

Last Friday we went to Snoqualmie Summit to check out some snow. They just opened one resort for the season and a lot of people are lining up to snow board or ski. Snoqualmie Summit is one of the famous destination here in Washington. They have a lot of activities to choose from. Last year we went there for snow tubing, they also have snowshoeing, Nordic Skiing (no idea what that is?), etc.

These are my parents in law enjoying the snow. It was their first time to see and experienced the snow. My mother in law said " This is it ! This is the real feeling of snow and America! hehehe...they did enjoy it :-)

Of course, me and my daughter favorite snow activity, making a snow man! She just love it !

Andi @ two months

It is amazing how children grow so fast. Look at Andi now, a few months ago I was still carrying her in my tummy and now look how big she is. She giggles and coo when you talk to her and making noises if nobody is talking to her. Love to put her hands in her mouth too when you could not give her milk sooner when she cries.

She started making some sleeping pattern. Still not sleeping through the night but half way through it. She is making some progress.

I don't say that it is true, but I love touching my baby often, simply because I love the feeling of her skin touching my skin.

Second Car for my family

I dropped my husband at the bus stop this morning and will pick him up later in the afternoon. After lunch I have to bring my daughter to school and pick her up two and half hours later. This is my daily routine. I served as a school bus for my family simply because we only have one car. Me and my husband was talking about getting a second car, because we spent a lot of money in gas. Since we don't have enough money for a brand new car and certainly could not afford to have another monthly bill, we were thinking of getting a used car. Used cars are good because it is way cheaper than brand new and you don't have to pay monthly payment if you pay in cash. Most people buy used cars for their second car. It will be ideal for us because I just need it to drop off and pick up my daughter in school. Right now, we are still trying to save some money for that second car. Hopefully we could buy one soon.

Biggest tree I ever saw!

Look at this tree! This is the biggest tree I ever saw in my entire life. I guess at least six people could hold hand in hand to be able to hug this tree. What is amazing with this tree is that it also shaped like a Christmas tree. Unfortunately, I was not able to get a picture of the whole tree because it was so close to where I stand.

Isn't it amazing, how nature works? Even though this tree is huge it is still beautiful.

The guys had fun posing with the tree and later on the kids too! I think that's what happened when you seldom found a big tree like this.

Wishing for a Green egg grills this holiday

Cooking is one thing I am beginning to love. I do not know how to cook before, but when I got married and have a family of my own, I learned how to cook with the help of various recipe books. Now that we have a house, I can tell you that we host a party almost every month. Sometimes I ran out of ideas what to prepare or what to cook. This coming Thanksgiving, my husband decided to invite some of our friends to have Thanksgiving dinner in the house. Usually, we serve Filipino food or sometimes I cook something from my Mediterranean recipe book. How I wish we have green egg grills so I could make our own hamburger ban. I'm sure our friends will be impressed because they only eat hamburger from fast food chains and never been homemade. Just imagine the smell of the house when you cook that burger ban. Hmmm, I'm sure not only you who will get hungry when you smell it, but your neighbors too! Green egg grills is not only good on the holidays, but will be perfect for the summer too. Grilled meat and burgers are perfect for picnic and a day at the Lake!

How I wish someone will give this green egg grills to me this holiday. Who knows?

Mom's Balancing Act

As a mother, our day to day activities are quite overwhelming. You always have to juggle household chores, errands and kids. Sometimes you feel like your life has no balance anymore. I was reading through my e-mail this morning and came across this article from Strong Moms. I thought of sharing this with you, it might help a little.

A simple tip on how to find balance in your day:

1. Write your task down. I always do this, so I will not forget things. It helps as well to prioritize things.

2. Preparing the night before. Sometimes I tried to clean up the house before we go to bed. Clean and prepare all of Andi's bottle for the next day. But if too tired just the kitchen. But it helps, because you can start a new routine on the next day.

3. Calling or asking for help. I am so lucky that my parents in law are here. They help me with the baby while I drop off and pick Gabz in school or run errands. Otherwise, I asked our good friend and neighbor Maricel to do something for me.

4. Grabbing on the go food for you and the baby. Better to have something in your bag always to nibble in case you will not have time to grab something.

These are simple things, yet could make a big difference in our day to day activities. It could make our life simpler and better.

Manny Pacquiao did it again! After winning the fight with Miguel Cotto, Manny Pacquiao is now holding the world record in boxing. He is the only boxer who won a seven title in seven different weight division.

And this is the scene in our house during Manny Pacquaio's momentos event. Just like many other Filipinos, we gathered together to cheers for our nations pride.

He cannot make up his mind...

I have been sending email back and forth with Gabz Godfather these past few days. He kept asking me what he could buy for Gabz this coming Christmas. He could not make up his mind if he will buy clothes, toys, a gift card or just send money for Gabz. He is a single guy who has no idea what a toddler wants this Christmas. Every time Manny Pacquiao has a fight, some Filipinos gathered to watched the fight. Of course food, drinks and karaoke will be part of the celebration. Today, we are hosting the fight. We cooked food and some friends will be bringing some more. I hope Pacquiao will win, we spent a lot of money in hosting this event! :-0

Oh, well I will give you update tomorrow what the result will be. I will continue my cooking for now. :-)

Going for a vacation this Holiday?

Holiday is usually the season where we spend time with families. A lot of families go for vacation inside or outside the country just to spend quality time with their love ones or to get away from their busy schedule. A few months ago, my family together with our friends went for a three days vacation at Lake Chelan here in Washington State. We planned our vacation a few months before because of the big number of people coming. We had a hard time looking for a place to stay since hotel is not an option. We tried to find a vacation home rental in Lake Chelan that could accommodate the big number of our group. Finally we found a Duplex property that can accommodate twenty three people. It was a perfect place for us! We rented a boat and explore the magnificent view of Lake Chelan and its neighboring places. Every body had a blast and was looking forward to the next group vacation.

This coming December my brother in law will be coming here in the US for Christmas. My parents in law are here too for the holidays. Since it happened so seldom that my husband families are coming over, we decided to go somewhere for a vacation. This time, we are going to Las Vegas! Hooray, Las Vegas here we come! I have been to Las vegas a couple of times but never get tired of it. Aside from the strip and the casino, Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam is on our list too. I was hoping that vacation home rental could help us with our lodging. I was browsing through their website and found a lot of ideal properties along the strip and near the airport. Still have to check their rates if it fits to our budget. Can't wait for December to come!

Oh well, holidays is almost here :-) Time is indeed flying so fast.

Bought some Christmas decorations yesterday, just simple stuff for the house to remind us that Christmas is around the corner. Gabz was super excited to decorate, no matter how sleepy she was, she still waited for her Dad to start decorating. I though things I bought was already enough, but when my husband finished decorating, I still could not feel the spirit of Christmas in the house! Oh my, I wonder how many hundred of dollars more I need to spend before I could finished my decorating project.

Have you ever used Pacifier for your baby?

Some people believe that Pacifier is not good for your baby. Some says, it helps them put the baby to sleep or calm the baby. What is your stand on the issue? Are you gonna use pacifier to your baby or not?

When Gabz was born, I have tried a couple of times to give her pacifier when she was fussy and all the tricks I have does not work. But she totally dislike it! She tried it a minute or two, but just spit it out and would never sucked it again. This is totally different with Andi. A week after I gave birth, I gave her pacifier because she wanted to sucked my nipple all night long! What I am trying to say is, each babies are different, some have strong sucking reflex and some are not.
Pacifier has it's pros and cons. So it is up to you to decide if the advantages out weight the disadvantages.

I saw this workbook at Costco one time and decided to check if Gabz could handle the activities inside. I was trying to teach her how to write then. Even though this is for 4 to 5 years old (she is only 3) I was thinking that maybe she can do this. I was glad I purchased this book, because it greatly helped Gabz learn how to write. The activities inside are great too; from sorting, matching, colors, phonetics, alphabets, numbers, shapes and a lot more. They covered almost everything!

I will surely recommend this book for every mom who has a toddler.

Gabz beautiful Art Works

Gabz goes to Preschool three times a week. Every time I pick her up with her friends, I always look forward to see her art works. They do art work most of the time in school, and below are her recent works. It never happened that she goes home without any school work with her. Before she enter preschool, she loves to paint, draw and color.

We encourage her by:

1. Buying water color, paints, crayons, brush and other art supplies.
2. Always give her paper and pencil to scribble or to write anything she wants.
3. We always appreciate anything she wrote or draw. Nothing is ugly or wrong, everything is special and has meaning.
4. Give her coloring books or anything that needs coloring.
5. Cut shapes or anything with her.
6. Most of all, we hang in the wall anything that is pretty as a reward for her good job.

This is the first art work she made in school. I was so proud on that day!

My kitchen smells fresh cookies

My husband loves the wonderful smell of the kitchen every time I baked cookies. For me the smell reminds me of Christmas time. Baking cookies is one of my bonding time with my daughter. She loves to eat fresh bake cookies. This is one of the food that is always present in our kitchen.

Bat Girl goes trick or treat while Little Devil was busy in her tummy time. Below are my girls in their Halloween costume. This year Gabz was Bat Girl, and Daddy pick out a little devil costume for Andi. Gabz taking a pose before she started trick or treating.

Here is my Little Devil, unfortunately the head band does not fit so we used the bow instead. The little tale was so cute :-) I think she knows what is going on, because she never complains at all.
